The final MageUnConference Cologne

I'm back and recovered after MageUnConference 2025 … a farewell to this great event.

It was a pleasure to meet you all, to catch up with so many familiar faces, finally put faces to names I've only seen online, and meet new people. I had great hallway conversations during the event and at the pre- and after-parties, and also had a lot of fun.

Expect the Unexpected

Thanks to the "little" issue we had with the after-party location, I got an awesome view of the Kölner Dom at night and had some great conversations while walking through the city to the spontaneously organized party back at the UnConf venue. You did so great in handling that unfortunate situation.

The last MageUnConf in Cologne

During the UnConf, we got the news that this was the last MageUnConference by the FireGento e.V. Team.

I want to say thank you very much to Carmen Bremen, Claudia Teubner, Fabian Blechschmidt, and Rico Neitzel for planning and organizing this great event over the past years and also thank you to the past team members Sonja Franz and Tobias Klose.

It always had a fixed slot in my calendar. After I started participating, I think I only missed one due to COVID. I'm not sure how to fill that spot in the calendar now. I loved this format and the atmosphere you created.

Some memories

The photo book was a nice touch and brought up some memories, even though I wasn't able to remember every situation. It would be great to have a digital version of that photo book online.

There were a lot of great MageUCs, but one I remember well was 2023, with the after-party in the Eigelsteintorburg and the fire show we had in front of it. We all remember the Ordnungsamt ("public order office") showing up. Rico was surrounded by them, having to explain what was going on and that we had a permit for the fire show.

That was just one of many great moments from the MageUCs over the years. It's moments like these, that I'll remember.

It was nice meeting you all, and I do hope to see you soon at some other events.
